The Royal Melbourne Yacht Squadron sits on Pier Road at St Kilda Harbour, twenty minutes from the Melbourne CBD. The club began in 1876 as the St Kilda Sailing Club and received its royal warrant in 1924; the floating marina below the clubhouse was built in 2014. Weddings use the Harbour Room, the upstairs dining room looking over the marina, St Kilda Pier and the bay, which seats 180, and a third-level rooftop for ceremonies and cocktail receptions of up to 250.
Veri has photographed two weddings in the Harbour Room: Edwina and Jonathan, and Joanna and Sam. Both galleries run long, because the location gives so much within a hundred metres: the pier, the breakwater, the boats, the beach and the rooftop, all facing west into the sunset.
