Filmmaker's venue notes

Filming at Hyatt Hotel Canberra

Hyatt Hotel Canberra sits on Commonwealth Avenue in Yarralumla, a short walk from Lake Burley Griffin. It opened in 1924, three years before Parliament moved to Canberra, and is heritage-listed; its white walls, red-tiled roofs and garden courtyards were restored when it reopened as a Hyatt in 1988. Its two ballrooms host wedding receptions of up to 300 guests.

On the day the film moved between three places: the ceremony at Holy Rosary Church in Watson, in Canberra’s inner north, portraits among the cherry trees and stone lanterns of Canberra Nara Peace Park, which sits between the hotel and the lake, then the reception back at Hyatt Hotel Canberra.
