The Grande Reception is a purpose-built function centre on Helm Court, Epping, in Melbourne’s outer north. It is a single private ballroom rather than a set of rooms: high ceilings, a raised stage, a sunken dance floor lit from below, a glass-panelled backdrop and over 100 secure car spaces at the door. It takes weddings of 100 to 400 guests with in-house catering, and the team has been hosting weddings for more than twenty years. On-site ceremonies happen on the dance floor.
Veri photographed Katerina and Bill’s reception here in November 2017, after a ceremony at Toorak Uniting Church and portraits in Carlton Gardens. That is how the Grande is usually used: the ceremony and portraits happen closer to the city, and the ballroom takes the entrance, the speeches and a long night of dancing.
