All Saints Estate Wedding Photos

A castle among the vines at Wahgunyah, reached by three hundred metres of old elms

All Saints Estate is a winery on All Saints Road at Wahgunyah, on the Victorian bank of the Murray in the Rutherglen wine region. Founded in 1864, it is one of the oldest wineries in the country, and its heritage-listed castle, put up by Scottish engineers in the 19th century, stands among English-style gardens. The drive in runs 300 metres under elms planted around 150 years ago. The Brown family owns it and has hosted weddings here for more than 30 years.

Samantha and Andrew married, took portraits and held their reception on the estate. Weddings here choose between the elm drive and the Rose Garden with its water-lily pond for the ceremony, the Fountain Courtyard for drinks, and the Great Hall under festoon lights or the barrel-lined Cask Hall for dinner. Everything sits within a few minutes’ walk of the castle.

The elm avenue is the frame: shoot down its length in the late afternoon when the light comes through the canopy, and again at dusk when the festoons in the Great Hall are on. The castle walls give a plain stone background for family groups, and the vine rows behind the buildings run flat and long for couple portraits. The Great Hall and the Cask Hall cover any weather, and the Rose Garden takes 200 for an outdoor ceremony. The gallery above is Samantha and Andrew’s All Saints Estate wedding.
