Glen Derwent is a heritage-listed homestead on Hamilton Road at New Norfolk, forty minutes north-west of Hobart. The main house is an 1818 two-storey brick Georgian farmhouse with an 1840s extension and a Victorian verandah and conservatory, set on twelve acres of an 1808 land grant. Around it stand sandstone outbuildings: stables from about 1808, a barn, a coach house and an 1870 hop kiln. The grounds hold a rose garden with a fountain, a willow-lined duck pond and an orchard.
From 2016 to 2024 the property ran as accommodation, tea rooms and a wedding venue, and Veri photographed Steph and Kane’s wedding there in that period: bride getting ready in the house, ceremony, portraits and reception all on the grounds. The business closed in November 2024 and the owners have since kept Glen Derwent as a private family home, so it no longer takes bookings.
