Hurlstone Homestead is a restored manor in Grahamvale, on the edge of Shepparton in northern Victoria, about two hours from Melbourne and five minutes from the town centre. It was built in 1900 to a design by architect J.A. Clarke for a wheat and grazing property that later became an orchard and dairy farm. The house has deep verandahs, French doors, a hallway more than thirty metres long and a central courtyard, and the grounds now hold country gardens, ponds and gazebos.
Veri photographed Keira and Adam’s wedding here, with the ceremony, portraits and reception all on the property. That is how the homestead is usually used: vows in the garden or under a gazebo, portraits along the verandahs and among the old trees, then the reception inside the house. Because it also operates as a bed and breakfast, the couple can get ready on site and walk out to the ceremony.
