Lorne Beach, the main beach at Lorne on the Great Ocean Road, runs about two kilometres along Louttit Bay with Point Grey sheltering it from the open swell. Behind the sand are lawns, gum trees and picnic areas along Mountjoy Parade, and the Lorne Surf Life Saving Club sits on the foreshore; lifeguards patrol through summer. The water is calmer than most of the Surf Coast because of the point, though there are still currents, so swimming stays between the flags.
Sarah and Rob came down to the sand here for portraits between their ceremony at Shelly Beach Reserve and the reception at The Peak up at Lorne Country Club. Lorne suits that pattern: a foreshore or beach ceremony, a walk along the water while the guests find the bar, and a reception either in town or in the hills above it.
