Ashlee & Kate - Riverstone Estate Wedding, Coldstream

Riverstone Estate is a 75-acre working vineyard and farm on Skye Road at Coldstream, on the ridge above the Yarra. The homestead was built in 1996 from bluestone and century-old Oregon timber salvaged from the Newmarket saleyards in Flemington. It holds the Bluestone Room, the main reception space with a stone fireplace and high ceilings, seating about 70 with a dance floor or 120 for cocktails. Ceremonies are on the hilltop over the valley, with a covered option if the weather turns.

Veri has photographed and filmed six weddings here, most recently Ashlee and Kate’s. Riverstone’s ceremony lawn tips straight into the view, so every frame from the vows onward carries the valley behind it. At dusk we walked the vine rows for ten quiet minutes, the frames everyone asks about later. The valley, the homestead and the kangaroos have not changed across those six days, and the light has behaved every time.
