Country Wedding · City: Melbourne · Venue: Camp Sunnystones
We started Kelly and Tory’s country wedding at Camp Sunnystones while they got ready on the Merrimu property, near Bacchus Marsh. Outside, timber chairs and a rug aisle led to the wooden arbour beneath the trees. Tory wiped his eye as Kelly came towards him; we stayed with his reaction as well as her entrance. Kelly’s rose-and-succulent crown, the foliage hoops and succulent boutonnieres kept catching our eye as we moved between people and details. After the ceremony, we took them along the bush tracks and beside the stone homestead for portraits, then stayed for the speeches and dancing.

Their ceremony had us watching faces all around the arbour. Tory wiped his eye when Kelly arrived; later Kelly touched her own eyes as they spoke, and a guest did the same. We caught Kelly and Tory laughing together, then kissing beneath the arbour before they walked out through falling leaves. For their country wedding portraits, we stayed at Sunnystones: first the bush tracks and flower garden, then the ivy-framed stone doorway. That close frame felt right after the open ceremony. At the reception, we photographed the succulent-decorated cake, the grazing table and the little plants in vintage mugs for guests. Then Tory lifted Kelly on the dance floor, her skirt sweeping across the frame. We finished with a quieter night portrait of them seated inside, framed by the dark leafy doorway.
Camp Sunnystones is at 98 Possumtail Run in Merrimu, within Moorabool and near Bacchus Marsh. We stayed on the property for Kelly and Tory’s portraits and still had room to change the pace. The bush track let them walk together; at the homestead, the ivy-framed doorway and stone walls brought us in closer. The trees softened the ceremony light, and the stonework gave us a different portrait frame without another location stop.
