Sinclair turned as Taylah crossed the little footbridge, and we had a clear view of his reaction from the lakeside ceremony lawn. That moment brought their country wedding at Pennyroyal Otways Retreat in the Otways into focus for us. We started in the timber cottages, followed the wedding party down the hill, then took Taylah and Sinclair into the paddocks for portraits. The alpacas crossed the drive right in front of everyone—better timing than we could have planned. Later, we caught the last warm light on the hillside before the paper lanterns came on around the marquee.

Ceremony, portraits & reception: Pennyroyal Otways Retreat, Pennyroyal.
The bridal party's walk down the hillside let us show how the ceremony sat in the landscape. We moved closer for Taylah's crossing over the footbridge and Sinclair's turn towards her. After the vows, petals scattered across the lawn and guests gathered around the couple. Portraits here were anything but static: we walked the open hill, then found alpacas crossing the drive in front of the wedding party. When the marquee lit up, we could shift from wide frames of the lanterns to the little exchanges between guests, then stay with the dancing as the evening carried on.
Pennyroyal gave us very different settings without a car trip: window light in the cottages, open sky beside the lake and warm late light on the hillside. We liked the footbridge for Taylah's arrival because we could photograph her crossing and Sinclair's reaction. The paddock drive gave us a wedding-party frame no one could have staged quite the same way, alpacas included. If you're marrying here, we'd leave room for a short hillside walk before everyone heads back to the marquee. We can't promise the alpacas a call time, but that's part of the fun.
