At Tokar Estate in Coldstream, Jarrod wiped an eye as Danni joined him beneath the flowered arbour. We stayed close for that moment, then stepped back to take in the vine rows and Yarra Ranges. Once the ceremony was over, we walked with them past the roses and into the open grass, making the most of the softer light. Their Yarra Valley winery wedding carried on indoors with speeches and cake before dancing moved under the marquee lights.

Vows above the vines, portraits at dusk

Ceremony & reception: Tokar Estate, Coldstream.

The flower girls scattered petals; Jarrod waited beneath the arbour; then Danni arrived and he reached for his eye. We photographed those little moments up close, but pulled back for the first kiss so the wedding party and vineyard could share the frame. Later, we found a quieter pace among Tokar Estate’s roses and vines, finishing with Danni and Jarrod walking towards the pink-lit ranges. The speeches brought more laughter and a few teary faces. By the time we joined them on the covered deck, Jarrod was throwing finger guns on the dance floor.

Shooting at Tokar Estate, Coldstream

Tokar Estate gave us room to change the scale of a photograph without leaving the winery. From the Coldstream ceremony lawn, we could include the arbour, vines and Yarra Ranges in one frame; by the rose beds, we could work much closer to Danni and Jarrod. The grassy paddock opened up again as the light fell. We stayed with them for the turn from dining-room speeches to dancing beneath the covered marquee — two very different moods at the same Yarra Valley venue.
