We'd already photographed Shannon and Luke together at Carlton Gardens in Melbourne for their engagement session. Their wedding brought us to Sunnybrae Estate in Regency Park, Adelaide, where Shannon crossed the lawn and Luke waited beneath the trees. We moved in for the way they looked at each other beneath the hanging paper hearts, then stepped back to include their guests in the garden ceremony. Later, the yellow leaves and old brick gave us a different side of Sunnybrae before the reception lights came on.

Ceremony and reception: Sunnybrae Estate, Regency Park, Adelaide.
Earlier engagement shoot: Carlton Gardens, Melbourne (Photo 001).
Luke spotted Shannon coming across the lawn; we caught his expression through the guests before moving closer as they took each other's hands. The kiss brought the applause, and petals flew as they walked back up the aisle. Then came the hugs, a kiss with the bridesmaids around them and some softer moments beneath the yellow-leaved trees. We loved the shift after dark: paper lanterns above the dance floor, Shannon and Luke still finding each other in the middle of the party, and one last portrait together on Sunnybrae's festoon-lit path.
Sunnybrae Estate gave us a lot to work with in one Regency Park location. We could show the garden ceremony beneath wide branches, move close among the yellow-orange leaves for portraits, then bring the heritage brick into the frame without leaving the grounds. Once it was dark, the festoon lights along the path made a quiet contrast with the busy reception room. That change of scene is why we like photographing a wedding here: Shannon and Luke had time for portraits, and we could still catch the party as it unfolded.
