Vows under the Jacaranda Tree, four acres of rainforest and a lawn that glows after dark.
Bundaleer Rainforest Gardens is a family-owned venue on Bundaleer Street in Brookfield, in Brisbane’s leafy west, about 20 minutes from the city. Established in 1959, it sits on four acres of rainforest gardens with towering trees, lawns and a freshwater creek. Its best-known ceremony spot is the Jacaranda Tree, with the Waterfall Deck tucked into the rainforest nearby, and receptions run in the Treetops Room among the trees or in the silk-lined Marquee.
We photographed Amanda and Patrick’s garden wedding here: vows under the Jacaranda Tree with a cloud of bubbles, portraits on the rope swing and along the driveway in the last of the light, and giant LOVE letters glowing on the lawn after dark.
The canopy throws patchy sun across the Jacaranda Tree ceremony, so we look for even shade and keep faces out of the hot spots. In autumn and winter the sun drops behind the trees before five, so plan portraits straight after the ceremony: the driveway, the timber fence lines and the rope swing are all a short walk away. Save ten minutes after dark for night portraits on the lawn.
