A tropical hideaway among the gums, two hours south of Perth
Ferguson Valley Escape is a resort-style retreat on Twomey Road in Crooked Brook, in the hills behind Bunbury and about two hours south of Perth. It has plantation-style accommodation for around twenty guests, a resort pool and cabana, tropical gardens that stay green all year and interiors by WA designer Sasha deBretton. Weddings run from twenty to a hundred guests, with ceremony spots in the garden, by the pool or under the date palms, a barn-style space for the reception and an in-house kitchen known for its grazing boards.
Veri’s team has photographed one Ferguson Valley Escape wedding here and filmed it too. Emma and Dave got ready in the lodge, said their vows under a white floral arch among the gums, ran a bubble exit, took sunset portraits along the festoon-lit pergola and partied in the rustic shed with sixty guests.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
The garden ceremony under the gums gives soft, even light through the afternoon, so nobody squints through their vows. Once the festoon lights switch on, the timber pergola walkway and dance floor turn into the best portrait spots on the property, and the shed’s rusted iron, stone walls and chandeliers look best with a little added light after dark. With everything on one property there is no travel time, so sunset portraits can happen straight after the ceremony.
