One studio cottage for two under the ferns on Kings Road, with a fire, a spa and forest behind.
Fernbrook Cottage is a one-room studio cottage for two on Kings Road, Marysville, a short walk from the village shops and about 90 minutes north-east of Melbourne through the Black Spur. It is set among ferns and country garden with forest behind, and inside there is a wood fire, an in-room spa and a private verandah looking over the garden. The styling is French country, and a cooked breakfast basket comes with the stay.
Aroya got ready here before her wedding to Jack at Narbethong Community Hall, while Jack dressed across town at Amelina Cottages. For a bride a small cottage like this is easy to work: one good window, a verandah to hang the dress, and the garden and the ferns for a first portrait before the car arrives.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
Kings Road is quiet and the garden does most of the work: I use the verandah for the details and the hair and makeup, then bring the bride out to the ferns and the trees behind for the first frames in her dress. The light under the trees is cool and even, which suits skin. Rain is easy here: the verandah is covered and the wood fire makes the room glow.
