A Cobb & Co inn from 1872, reborn as an Italian table with lawns that look down the Yarra Valley.
Fondata 1872 is an Italian restaurant and event venue at Kangaroo Ground, about 45 minutes from the Melbourne CBD at the near end of the Yarra Valley. The building began as a Cobb & Co inn around 1872 and was long known as Weller’s; Fondata is its revival. The main dining room seats 100 under high ceilings around a double-sided heritage fireplace, with the smaller Weller’s Room, a Bar Room opening to an alfresco terrace, and lawns for outdoor ceremonies looking over the hills.
Leah and Daniel had their first look and portraits at Montsalvat in Eltham, then drove the short way out to Kangaroo Ground for the ceremony on the lawn and dinner inside. That pairing works well: stone and artists’ colony at Montsalvat, then the valley opening up behind the vows. The 374-image gallery covers the whole run, from the lawn ceremony to the fireplace room at night.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
The lawn faces the valley, so a late-afternoon ceremony gets long light across the grass and a soft background of hills; midday is harsh out there. Inside, the fireplace room is warm-toned and dim, so bring lights for the speeches and dancing. The terrace is the spot for the sunset drink and a two-minute couple portrait. Wet weather moves the ceremony into the dining room or under the covered terrace. The gallery below is Leah and Daniel’s wedding.
