InterContinental Sanctuary Cove Resort Wedding Photos

A glass chapel above the Coomera River, a one-acre lagoon pool and palm-lined gardens at Sanctuary Cove

InterContinental Sanctuary Cove is a five-star resort on Manor Circle at Sanctuary Cove, on the northern Gold Coast beside the Coomera River. It ran as a Hyatt Regency until late 2012, when it became InterContinental’s first resort in Australia. The look is a classic Queensland estate, from the Great House and its grand staircase to three accommodation wings set in 4.2 hectares of tropical gardens, with a one-acre Lagoon Beach pool and the marina village next door. The glass-walled Wedding Chapel seats 80 above the river, and MacArthur’s Ballroom seats 180.

Ashley and Lane’s InterContinental Sanctuary Cove wedding showed us how easy a day here can be: getting ready in the resort, a ride to the chapel in a white vintage-style buggy, vows under those soaring glass arches, then portraits along the waterfront, up the sandstone steps and beside the reflection pool, all without anyone getting in a car. Receptions can move on to The Grange, MacArthur’s Ballroom, the Fountain Terrace or the sand of the Lagoon Beach, and guests can stay right on site.

How to prepare for your wedding photos (without overthinking it)

Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.

1. Be yourselves — that's where the magic is

You don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.

2. Build buffer time into your timeline

A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.

3. Choose locations that feel like you

A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.

4. Consider an unplugged ceremony

Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.

5. Get ready in calm, light-filled spaces

Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.

6. Keep a drink and snacks nearby

Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.

7. Trust the process

We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.

The chapel’s glass wall looks onto the river, so we time the ceremony for when the sun is off that wall, and the mezzanine gives a high angle for the wide shot. The lagoon beach and the palms are the late-light frames, with the marina a short walk for something with masts in it. Verandahs on the homestead-style wings give shade for family groups in Queensland heat. The Fountain Terrace works morning or evening. Rain moves everything indoors to The Grange or the ballroom.
