Red brick and saw-tooth roofs of a 1924 wool mill, now a brewery hall on Swanston Street
Little Creatures Brewery occupies the old Valley Worsted Mills on Swanston Street, South Geelong. The mill was built in 1924, then the largest textile mill in the country: five buildings of red Geelong brick with white art deco trim under saw-tooth roofs. Little Creatures bought the site in 2011 and the first Geelong beer left in 2013. For weddings there is Furphy Hall, which seats 120 or holds 200 standing and has a fireplace, and the barrel-lined White Rabbit Barrel Hall for a hundred standing.
Veri photographed Lisa and Steve’s reception here after their ceremony and portraits at Geelong Botanic Gardens, a short drive away. That is a good Geelong pairing: the formality of the gardens for the vows and the photographs, then brick, timber and brewery noise for the party, with the Canteen and the courtyard open to the public around the edges of it.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
Furphy Hall has natural light panels overhead, so daytime speeches and an early first dance both work without heavy lighting; once the sun drops the fireplace and the bar become the warm points in the room. The brick walls and the mill yard outside are worth ten minutes with the couple as guests arrive, and the barrel hall makes a dark, close backdrop if the weather turns. The gallery below is Lisa and Steve’s day, from Geelong Botanic Gardens to the reception here.
