Bathing boxes on the sand, a stone sea wall, and Port Phillip flat and pale at day’s end
Mornington sits on the Port Phillip side of the peninsula, about an hour from Melbourne. Its beaches run either side of the pier and marina: Mothers Beach is the sheltered, north-facing cove beside Main Street, with rows of painted beach boxes, and Mills Beach is a kilometre north with more boxes, a stone sea wall and a grassy reserve. The peninsula has more than 1,300 of these boxes.
Veri photographed Saif and Sophia’s beachside wedding at Mornington: getting ready, ceremony, portraits and reception, all along this stretch of coast. A beach ceremony here is short and close to the water, which means the reception venue in town is only minutes away and the couple can come back to the sand at last light.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
The bay beaches face north and west, so the sun sets over the water and the last half hour is the one to keep free. Beach boxes give colour and a straight line behind the couple; the sea wall at Mills Beach gives height for a wide frame. Sand and wind are the practical problems: flat shoes and a firm grip on the veil. In summer the foreshore is busy, so an early ceremony keeps the background clear.
