Wood Marsh concrete, a red spiral stair down to the barrel hall and vines inside Werribee Park
Shadowfax is the winery on K Road at Werribee, inside Werribee Park alongside the Chirnside mansion, the Victoria State Rose Garden and the open range zoo, about half an hour to forty minutes from Melbourne. It was founded in 2000, makes its wines from Macedon Ranges fruit and runs a cellar door and restaurant on site. The building is by Wood Marsh: floor-to-ceiling glass, tree-lined outlooks and an underground barrel hall reached by a red spiral staircase, on about 20 acres of vines and garden.
Ceremonies are held in the garden, against the building, in the vineyard or down in the barrel room, and the main room seats up to 115 for dinner or takes 200 standing with a dance floor. Veri photographed a preview set from a November 2016 wedding here, portraits around the building and vines and then the reception inside. The mansion hotel next door handles accommodation, so guests have a short walk home.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
Concrete and glass give hard, clean shadows, so the building suits the hour before sunset when the low sun warms the walls and the vine rows behind. The red spiral stair is the indoor frame everyone remembers: shoot it from the top and again from the barrel-hall floor. The rose garden and the mansion are minutes away for a second setting. Wet weather moves the ceremony into the barrel room, no loss at all. The gallery below is a preview from a Shadowfax wedding in November 2016.
