The parish church of St Nicholas on Murray Street, six kilometres west of the city in Yarraville
St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church is the parish church of St Nicholas on Murray Street, Yarraville, in Melbourne’s inner west about 6 kilometres from the CBD. It sits under the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia and keeps two feast days, 6 December and 20 May. Yarraville grew as an industrial suburb from the 1880s; a 1950s migration wave, much of it Greek, filled its streets, and the village around Anderson and Ballarat Streets, with the art deco Sun Theatre, is a short walk away.
Veri photographed Rana and Con’s ceremony here, followed by portraits at Victoria Barracks on St Kilda Road and a reception at Meadowbank Estate. It is a typical run for a Greek Orthodox wedding on this side of town: the service in the parish church, a drive back across the river for the couple’s photographs, then a large reception in the north.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
Be in place for the crowning with the stefana and for the walk around the table, which come quickly once the rings are exchanged; a long lens from the side keeps you out of the sanctuary. Ask the priest about flash and positions beforehand, since Orthodox interiors are lit for icons and candles rather than cameras. Murray Street handles the exit and the family groups, and the village is minutes away for a street frame. The gallery below is Rana and Con’s wedding, with the ceremony at St Nicholas.
