The Antiochian parish of the archangels on Belmore Street, Ryde, on the north bank of the Parramatta River
Sts Michael and Gabriel is the Antiochian Orthodox parish church on Belmore Street at the corner of Junction Street, Ryde, about 13 kilometres north-west of the Sydney CBD on the north bank of the Parramatta River. It belongs to the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese, holds its Sunday matins and liturgy in English with an evening service in Arabic, and has a community hall alongside. Ryde is one of Sydney’s oldest settled districts, with St Anne’s Anglican church of 1826 on Church Street nearby.
Veri photographed Anycie and Ronny’s ceremony here, a Sydney wedding of 123 frames built around the service at the church. An Antiochian wedding follows the Orthodox crowning rite, so the day has its set pieces: the betrothal with the rings, the crowns, the shared cup and the procession around the table, then the exit to the street and the family groups.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
Settle positions with the priest beforehand; the side of the nave usually works, and a long lens keeps the sanctuary clear. The crowning and the walk around the table are the moments not to miss, and they come close together. Outside, the corner of Belmore and Junction Streets gives an open frame for the exit and the groups, and the Parramatta River is a short drive for portraits. The hall covers rain.
