An organic vineyard since the sixties, a lodge deck over the lake and a ceremony under one big tree
Tamburlaine Organic Wines is on McDonalds Road, Pokolbin, in the heart of the Hunter Valley. The winery was established in 1966, bought by a small group in 1985, and is now one of Australia’s largest organic producers, with vineyards here and at Orange. Weddings run from The Lodge near the gate, a large air-conditioned room with a deck looking over a lake, the vines and open country, for 60 to 180 guests.
Ceremonies are held in the garden under a broad old tree, with lawns around it for portraits before the walk into the vines. Veri photographed Susan and William’s wedding at Tamburlaine, ceremony, portraits and reception all at the lodge and the vineyard, which is the standard Hunter Valley shape: one property, one afternoon, and the rows running to the ridge.
Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
Set the ceremony to face the trees rather than the building and the light on faces is soft all afternoon. The lake in front of the deck gives reflections at dusk. Summer here is hot and the rows are exposed, so vine portraits go in the last half hour; in winter the vines are bare and the light is low all day, which suits the deck.
