Flowerdale Estate is a 106-acre country property on Broadford-Flowerdale Road at Strath Creek, in the hills between the Yarra Valley and Kilmore, a little over an hour north of Melbourne. It is built around a homestead dating from 1842, which now houses Gracies Restaurant, with King Parrot Creek running through the grounds. Larger weddings use the North Lawn and the Mackenzie Room, and guests stay on the estate in the homestead rooms, the Guest House, the Garden Suite or the glamping tents.
We have photographed two weddings at Flowerdale Estate, including Camilla and Jason’s. Flowerdale’s elm avenue is the frame everyone comes for, but the flats along the creek behind the homestead gave us the quiet ones: long grass, low sun, two people finally alone for ten minutes. With the whole party staying over, the day starts and ends on the verandah.
