The Palace Rose Garden is in the Royal Botanic Garden Sydney near Mrs Macquaries Road, on ground where the Garden Palace stood for the 1879 exhibition until it burned in 1882. It is the ninth rose garden in the Garden’s history, redesigned in 2006 with hedges removed for air and lawn opened up for weddings, and modern roses in three beds named Formal, Romantic and Flamboyant. The Shelter Pavilion beside it dates from 1897, built of Port Jackson sandstone to Walter Vernon’s design.
Veri photographed Nicole and Michael’s reception here after their ceremony and portraits elsewhere in the Royal Botanic Garden, so the whole day stayed inside the one thirty-hectare garden on Farm Cove. The lawn and pavilion take up to 200 guests, and the Garden calls it one of Sydney’s most popular spots for a garden wedding.
For Nicole and Michael it was the reception venue; the day also took in Royal Botanic Garden Sydney.
