Lina & Matthew - Ballara Receptions, Eltham

Ballara Receptions · Eltham, VIC

Garden Wedding · City: Melbourne · Venue: Ballara Receptions

Lina and Matthew married at Ballara among Eltham’s gum-studded gardens — a chapel in the trees, lawns wrapped in bushland, and that soft green light the artists’ suburb is famous for. Twenty-five minutes from the city, a world calmer. The garden did the styling and everyone relaxed. Melbourne wedding photography in the leafy east: scroll on.

The story

Chapel in the gums, Eltham green everywhere

Ceremony & reception: Ballara Receptions @ Eltham.

Bush at the lawn’s edge

Ballara’s gardens fold the bush right up to the lawn edges, so the frames feel enclosed and private even with a full guest list. We walked the fern paths at dusk and the gums filtered the light into ribbons.

Light under the canopy

Ballara’s tree canopy gives even, flattering light across the gardens for most of the day — a rare venue where a midday ceremony photographs kindly. The lake and jetty on the lower lawn are the golden-hour spot. Everything is on-site within two minutes’ walk, which keeps the timeline generous and the couple present at their own party.
