Beach Wedding · Waterside Wedding · Region: NSW - Northern Beaches · City: Sydney · Venue: Bayview Yacht Club BYRA
We began Emma and Sean’s Northern Beaches wedding at a private home in Allambie Heights, where Emma’s lace gown was being fastened and the protea bouquets were ready to go. At Bayview Yacht Club, the light was bright on the Pittwater lawn, so the white umbrellas became part of the portraits as well as welcome shade. Then the focus shifted to BYRA’s timber deck: Emma came along the woven aisle, Sean met her beneath the floral arbour, and the two of them laughed with yachts behind them. We kept the guests in the frame when confetti flew. Later, we found a few minutes on the nearby sand for warm, backlit portraits, then followed the noise inside for the dancing.

Preparation: a private home in Allambie Heights, NSW. Ceremony and reception: Bayview Yacht Racing Association, Bayview. Portraits: the nearby Pittwater waterfront lawns and beach.
Emma and Sean were laughing beneath the arbour, with guests on either side of BYRA’s deck and yachts across Pittwater behind them. After the kiss, we widened out for the rush of hands and confetti as they came back down the aisle. The group photo brought everyone together above the water. We also spent time with the wedding party on the lawn, where the white umbrellas made bright portraits feel playful. On the sand, we placed the low sun behind Emma and Sean and moved closer as they turned towards each other. Inside the clubhouse, the mood shifted again: people laughed through the speeches, Sean twirled Emma, and their friends made a tunnel of raised arms for her to duck through.
BYRA’s timber deck faces Pittwater and the clubhouse opens directly onto it, so Emma and Sean’s waterside wedding gave us two very different looks without a long transfer. We used the bright waterfront and white umbrellas for their portraits, then let the darker clubroom and festoon lights frame the reception. The sandy beach nearby gave us a third setting. Facing the low sun let us keep Emma and Sean close in the frame while the shoreline fell soft behind them. For a wedding here, we’d leave a little space in the timeline for that change in light, just enough to step out and back without missing the fun indoors.
