Mornington Peninsula Wedding Photography

Bay beaches on one side, Bass Strait on the other, and vines on the hill between

The Mornington Peninsula starts a little over an hour south-east of Melbourne and runs about 40 km to the heads, with calm Port Phillip beaches on one side and Bass Strait surf on the other. Red Hill and Main Ridge hold most of the sixty-odd wineries in a cool maritime climate, while Dromana, Sorrento, Flinders and Cape Schanck give couples coastal venues, barns and golf clubs. Late spring and autumn are the popular months; summer can be hot and windy.

We have photographed autumn vine rows and clipped gardens at Lindenderry in Red Hill, a clifftop wedding at The National Golf Club at Cape Schanck, and a lakeside ceremony under the willows at Crittenden Wines in Dromana, back when the venue was called Stillwater at Crittenden. Our films from the peninsula include Baxter Barn, Barn and Co and Dromana Estate.

Photographing weddings on the Mornington Peninsula

Red Hill sits higher and cooler than the coast, and sheltered gardens there hold soft light well into the evening. At Cape Schanck, The National Golf Club’s terrace overlooks the coastal course. Aasher and Nick’s gallery shows sunset portraits there, but timing and conditions need checking for each wedding. A first look on the Dromana foreshore fits easily before a winery ceremony. Coach transport is worth arranging, as the roads clog on long weekends. The galleries above are all peninsula weddings.
