Sydney North Shore Wedding Photography

Harbour bays under sandstone ridges, with the Opera House across the water behind the vows

The North Shore is the sandstone side of Sydney Harbour, joined to the city by the Harbour Bridge since 1932. The Lower North Shore, from Kirribilli round to Cremorne and Mosman, sits on ridges and gullies that run down to harbour bays. Mosman is 8 km north-east of the CBD, a peninsula between Sydney Harbour and Middle Harbour, with Balmoral Beach, Bradleys Head and Taronga Zoo on its shore. Balmoral faces north-east, sheltered by Middle Head, with a 1926 promenade and a rotunda of 1930.

We photographed Sabine and Arthur’s wedding here: the ceremony at the Bradleys Head amphitheatre in Sydney Harbour National Park, where the Opera House and the Bridge sit across open water behind the couple, then a walk on the sand at Balmoral before the reception at Bathers’ Pavilion, the 1929 Spanish Mission building on The Esplanade. Bradleys Head put the whole postcard behind the vows, so we shot wide and let Sydney flex. Our Sydney team covers the whole North Shore.

Photographing weddings on the Sydney North Shore

Bradleys Head faces the city across open water, so an afternoon ceremony gets front-lit icons and a breeze straight off the harbour. Balmoral’s beach and rotunda are ten minutes away for the golden-hour set. Ferries cross the background constantly and we wait them out. Kirribilli gives the Bridge at close range for a blue-hour frame. The gallery above is Sabine and Arthur’s day.
