Cathedral stone, laneway paint and river light, all inside a ten-minute walk
Melbourne’s centre still runs on Robert Hoddle’s 1837 grid, one mile by half a mile of 30-metre-wide streets, with the laneways and arcades threaded through the blocks. Inside that walk are St Paul’s Cathedral, Flinders Street Station, Parliament House, the State Library and Hosier Lane, with the Royal Exhibition Building and Carlton Gardens on the northern edge and the Yarra, Southbank and the Royal Botanic Gardens to the south. Couples marry in cathedral halls, hotel ballrooms, garden pavilions and the ballrooms at Crown.
We have photographed Pascale and Pasquale’s ceremony at the Chapter House beside St Paul’s with portraits at Parliament House, Frances and Tim’s wedding at Gardens House and The Terrace inside the Royal Botanic Gardens, and Danielle and Michael’s reception at Palladium at Crown in Southbank, with the skyline session shot as the towers lit up. Jip and Sarit’s pre-wedding session finished in Hosier Lane at dusk.

Seven small things that make a real difference on the day — learned across hundreds of weddings. None of them involve practising poses.
In motion, unposed · FR 15AYou don't need to perform or worry about what you look like. The best photos come from real moments: a glance, a laugh, a shared breath. Let go a little — we'll guide when needed, and the best unfolds naturally.
A little breathing room between getting ready, the ceremony and couple portraits makes all the difference. It gives us space for spontaneous shots — and gives you time to soak it all in.
A quiet lane, an open field, a textured wall — we love meaningful or interesting spots. Trust us to find great light, but if you've got a place you love, let's work it in.
Phones can distract from the emotion (and your photos). Asking guests to be fully present makes for cleaner frames and a more heartfelt atmosphere.
Clutter-free rooms with natural light are a photographer's dream, and calm energy in the morning sets the tone for the day. Keep the space tidy — or assign a friend to do a quick sweep before we arrive.
Especially during portraits — hydration and a little sugar go a long way in keeping energy and moods high.
We've worked at hundreds of weddings and we're here to make you look and feel amazing. Trust us with the light, the angles, the pace — we've got you.
Late in the afternoon the east-west laneways funnel warm light between the buildings, so we plan the route like a tram timetable and do a shot-list recce the week before. Blue hour is the hour here: the buildings light up while there is still colour in the sky, and Parliament’s steps look as good then as at noon. Hosier Lane is a tourist spot, so we work fast. The Botanic Gardens are closed to cars; allow for the walk. The galleries below are all city weddings and sessions.
